Che (Chengyu) Yuan is an illustrator and painter based in New York and Beijing. He materializes a spiritual world linked to disciplines like Buddhism and Tantra through his works. His meditation practices and studies enabled his interpretations of spiritual states using calligraphical geometry.  
His commercial arts include illustrations and graphic novels inspired by Taoism philosophy, Buddhist culture, and world literature. 
His graphic novel adaptation of One Hundred Years of Solitude was awarded the Robert Frankenberg Award by the School of Visual Arts in 2021. He was nominated for Will Eisner Scholar at the Society of Illustrators in the same year.
